Brazilian Girls. Neither members are from Brazil nor girls... well one is a girl. They were quite fun to see when they played here last year with Ladytron. Preceding their self-titled debut album and their second album, Talk to La Bomb, is New York City. Expect it in stores August 5.
From Talk to La Bomb, "Rules of the Game." Mysterioso...
Coldplay's give away of 'Violet Hill' starts today
Go to Coldplay.com for a *free* download of "Violet Hill" off their upcoming album, Viva La Vida. It's only available for one week starting today, so get it while it's out there. Have a listen to "Violet Hill" on their Myspace as well. Viva La Vida hits US stores June 17. Cheers!
As of today, Ladytron's MySpace page holds the first track, "Black Cat," off their upcoming album, Velocifero, as well as the album cover. Velocifero hits stores June 3. Now click here and listen!
As read on their MySpace blog, Ladytron will be collaborating with artists Assume Vivid Astrofocus (AVAF) for the cover of their fourth album, Velocifero. Their site (noted above) is pretty boss - it reminds me of the 80's and Lost in Translation.
This is different for Ladytron. The albums 604, Light & Magic, Witching Hour and even Extended Play sported their now trademark black & white & red theme. Are they ready for color?
Ladytron's album #4 slated to hit stores June 3. The title: Velocifero. Read their MySpace blog here or the Spin Magazine *exclusive* here. If they're fourth is as good as their past albums, remixes and B-sides, I'll be one happy girl. Now for even bigger news: they start touring in April and come to Atlanta June 13. Read an interview here. Maybe we'll have another one in the near future?... I hope.
Billboard announced The Gutter Twins' debut album, Saturnalia, will hit the stores March 4. Consisting of Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs and Twilight Singers front man) and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees front man), the dynamic duo have crossed paths on a few Twilight Singers records.
If you want to check out more of Dulli, check out TS'sMySpace page. If Lanegan tickles your fancy, check out his MySpace page or catch him on the I'm Not There soundtrack. If you wanna cut to the chase and hear them both, listen to "Live With Me" on A Stitch in Time, "Hard Time Killing Floor" on She Loves You and "Number Nine" on Blackberry Belle - all off Twilight Singers albums.
Album #4 (title TBA) for the dynamic foursome is due in approximately six months. They also signed with Nettwerk Records as of yesterday. If you can't wait until May to get your fix, check out Ladytron's MySpace page for updates, read this and see below! Oh yeah, you can check out the remix they did for Nine Inch Nails coming out next week. :-)
Available Tuesday, November 13 at Starbucks and other locations that sell CDs and DVDs
One of the neatest sights to see is a musician tell the audience the stories behind the songs. Sweet Baby James does just that on this intimate performance with a pianist and a drum machine - for real! Reminiscing about the 1970s in the days with Carole King and admitting what his songs were really about ("The Frozen Man" was about his father), you feel like you're on the back porch at his house doing story time.
What's also good to hear and hard to come by nowadays is a musician such as Mr. Taylor sounding the exact same as he did when he recorded these some. Watch the DVD on a quiet night or listen to the CD when you're Sunday driving. It's like an extended version of VH1's "Storytellers" without commercials.
This is going to be so freakin' cool - Nine Inch Nails is releasing Year Zero Remixed (aka: Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D or Halo 25), a remixed version of their latest album, Year Zero, coming out November 20.
The tracks.. 1. "Gunshots by Computer" - Saul Williams 2. "The Great Destroyer" - Modwheelmood 3. "My Violent Heart" - Pirate Robot Midget (fan remix) 4. "The Beginning of the End (J-Type Overdrive Mix)" - Ladytron 5. "Survivalism" - Saul Williams 6. "Capital G" - Epworth Phones 7. "Vessel" - Bill Laswell 8. "The Warning" - Stefan Goodchild featuring Doudou N'Diaye Rose 9. "Meet Your Master" - The Faint 10. "God Given" - Stephen Morris & Gillian Gilbert 11. "Me, I'm Not" - Olof Dreijer (of The Knife) 12. "Another Version of the Truth" - Kronos & Enrique Gonzalez Müller 13. "In This Twilight" - Fennesz 14. "Zero-Sum" - Stephen Morris & Gillian Gilbert
